This speech about the american dream by Kathy Tsao talks a lot about the american dream being connected to both homeownership and immigration. She says that she believes that the american dream for an immigrant is to own your own house. In the speech she talks about a story where a family with a little girl move into New York. When they arrive at their one bedroom apartment in Queens the little girl started crying because it was so small. Her mom told her that they can't afford a house yet, but they will some day. For the next ten years her mom and dad worked jobs and saved every penny they could. After ten years they bought their own home which was their american dream. That family did what they thought they should do in life, which was to one day own their own house, which they completed. What Kathy Tsao thought that she was suppose to do was to one day be a home owner. She worked very hard in order to achieve her American dream and do what she thinks she is suppose to do in her life.
